Hands down, LinkedIn is the largest professional social media network in the world with more than 347 million users worldwide as of April 2015 and it consistently ranks the highest among social media platforms for its B2B lead generation value. Despite these facts, millions of otherwise savvy business professionals from around the globe do not understand how to use this tool effectively. For the majority of professionals, LinkedIn is seen as a large job board only used when searching for a job or new employee, but LinkedIn can offer tremendous business opportunities for those looking to generate new customers and grow their business online.
Hopefully this article will give you some ideas on how to put LinkedIn to work for you. I will also add this article to my LinkedIn Long-Form posts and invite you to add comments and feedback there.
Improve Your SEO with LinkedIn
I had the pleasure of writing an article entitled “How to Improve Your SEO With LinkedIn and SlideShare” for Social Media Examiner, an online magazine designed to help businesses discover how to best use social media tools like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to find leads, increase sales and generate more brand awareness. In this article, I’m sharing first hand experience about how I use LinkedIn, and it’s little sister SlideShare, to increase my company’s online visibility, promote my brand and attract new leads.
Also, make sure to listen to my podcast interview entitled “A Slice A Day #97 – How to Improve Your SEO With LinkedIn and SlideShare” with Mark Tennant of Edwards Communications. Mark came across the article I authored for Social Media Examiner and I had a blast recording this interview with him.
After reading this article and listening to the podcast, you’ll get that Google loves LinkedIn (and SlideShare) and with a few simple steps you too can can gain additional visibility in Google searches for your target SEO keywords. BTW – here’s the link to a webinar I hosted about SEO keyword research.
As an educator and training expert in the digital marketing space, I recently noticed an increased demand for LinkedIn training classes. A growing number of business professionals and company owners is starting to catch on and are looking to LinkedIn as an effective way of networking with those in their industry and to generating B2B leads.
A LinkedIn training class is a good option if you are serious about investing time into this tool in order to marketing yourself and / or your business effectively to millions of potential customers and fellow LinkedIn users. High quality LinkedIn training includes hands on experience working with the LinkedIn platform as you’ll learn how to work with the platform to source leads and turn them into new customers. There’s a wealth of training options available nowadays and you may even decide to take an online class before attending a training in a classroom setting. Get started by viewing the recording of webinar “LinkedIn Optimization, SEO and Branding” if you’d like to find out if online training is right for you.
Get Started by Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile
Whether you choose an online training option or an in-person LinkedIn training, the newly acquired knowledge can lead a professional through every aspect of creating a LinkedIn profile that will include all the relevant information needed for your business or personal profile. If you haven’t already created a high quality and optimized LinkedIn profile, I encourage you to read article “9 Tips to Boost Your Visibility on LinkedIn” to get started. A high quality profile is the first step in creating a network of professionals who are potential employers and clients, with many professionals hunting down those who create a high quality profile and link with other professionals before becoming a passive member of this networking site.
